APPG FoFS – Reforms with Dame Harriett Baldwin MP as Chair

Following the General Election in July, the APPG for the Future of Financial Services today held its Inaugural General Meeting in the House of Commons.

The group was formally reconstituted for the new Parliamentary session with a new Co-Chair in Dame Harriett Baldwin MP.

Dame Harriett is the Conservative MP for West Worcestershire and, as a former Chair of the Treasury Select Committee, brings a wealth of financial services experience to the APPG.

Dame Harriett will serve as Co-Chair alongside Lord Sharkey, the Lib Dem Peer and former joint managing director of Saatchi & Saatchi UK. Also serving as officers of APPG are Josh Dean MP, the newly elected Labour MP for Hertford and Stortford and Lewis Cocking MP, the new Conservative MP for Broxbourne.

They are joined by a membership list of more than 40 MPs and Peers from all Parties who are all keen to work on improving the UK’s financial services sector.

The IGM approved a future work plan for the APPG and also discussed the first inquiry the APPG will undertake which is on Access to Banking. A full Call for Evidence on this issue will be published shortly.
